Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association ushers in new leadership team as Justice Mulwa takes over as President

Magistrates Rhoda Yator was elected Vice President, Tom Mark Olando took the position of Secretary General, while Hassan Omar Daffa was elected Vice Secretary General.
The Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA) has elected new office bearers following its annual general meeting held on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
The elections ushered in a new team to lead the association for the next two years.

Justice Peter Mulwa was elected as the new KMJA President, succeeding Justice Stephen Radido, whose term came to an end. Justice Mulwa will serve a two-year term, renewable once, as provided for by the association's constitution.
In other results, Magistrates Rhoda Yator was elected Vice President, Tom Mark Olando took the position of Secretary General, while Hassan Omar Daffa was elected Vice Secretary General.
Honourable Kiongo Kagenyo will serve as Treasurer, assisted by Hon. Dennis Kioko as Vice Treasurer.
Magistrate Everlyne Olwande was re-elected as the KMJA Female Representative to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), where she will serve a second five-year term. Commissioners at the JSC serve for a five-year term, renewable once.
Speaking after her re-election, Olwande expressed gratitude to her colleagues for their confidence in her leadership, pledging to continue championing the interests of judicial officers, particularly on issues of welfare, independence, and gender representation within the Judiciary.
Justice Mulwa, in his acceptance remarks, thanked the outgoing team for their service and promised to build on their achievements.
"Our priority will be to strengthen the association's voice in promoting judicial independence, integrity, and the welfare of our members," he said.
The newly elected KMJA officials will serve for a two-year term, renewable once, in accordance with the association's constitution.
The association plays a key role in safeguarding the interests of magistrates and judges across Kenya and enhancing professionalism within the Judiciary.
