Speaking at the Mandera town hall, the CS emphasized that the ambitious plans by the Kenya Kwanza government for the region, including the tarmacking of the Wajir-Mandera road, must be accomplished despite security challenges. He assured that the government would deploy sufficient security personnel to ensure the smooth completion of the proposed road project.

Duale urged locals to cooperate with security forces to prevent government projects aimed at enhancing economic opportunities in the region from being sabotaged by Al-Shabaab militants.
He further assured residents that plans to address the shortage of electricity supply in Mandera and Wajir towns would be expedited. Duale mentioned potential solutions such as direct electricity supply from Ethiopia due to proximity or the installation of green mini-grids or solar projects to alleviate the crisis.

Duale hinted at the possibility of reopening the Kenya-Somali border, with President William Ruto expected to tour the Mandera border point early next year.
Accompanied by governors, senators, and members of parliament from the region, the Cabinet Secretary inaugurated the construction of Al-bir Mosque and Madarasa. Additionally, he distributed food and non-food items to vulnerable households, particularly those with persons living with disabilities, at Granado.
