Bus carrying Tanzania MPs to Mombasa for EALA games involved in road crash

Confirming the incident, National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetangula said no fatalities were reported.
A bus carrying Members of Parliament from Tanzania to the 14th edition of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Games in Mombasa was involved in a road accident on Friday morning.
The incident occurred as the MPs were en route to the coastal city for the regional sporting event.
Confirming the incident, National Assembly Speaker, Moses Wetangula said no fatalities were reported.
Speaking to journalists at the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Station, Wetangula assured the public that emergency services had responded promptly to the scene.
However, he noted that several legislators sustained various injuries.
The injured MPs are said to have been immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
"One bus carrying some of our colleagues from Tanzania was involved in an accident. We have no fatalities but some injuries," he said, adding that the injured MPs have been rushed to hospital and are receiving treatment.
The National Assembly Speaker said a comprehensive report on the incident will be made available later.
