Eastleigh residents urged to register for SHA during opening of Globcare Hospital

Eastleigh residents urged to register for SHA during opening of Globcare Hospital

Globcare Hospital is expected to offer a wide range of medical services, including a surgical theatre, CT scan, DEXA scan, maternity care, X-ray, dialysis, and laboratory services.

The leadership of the Eastleigh Business District Association has urged residents of Eastleigh to register for the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) in order to access health services now available in the area.

This appeal was made during the official opening of Globcare Hospital, a newly constructed and well-equipped medical facility located in Eastleigh's Eleventh Street.

The association's Secretary General, Omar Hussein, led the call to action while speaking at the hospital's inauguration. The Secretary General emphasised the importance of SHIF registration, citing that it will allow residents to receive treatment at no cost.

“SHA is working; we have seen it in this hospital. I urge our members to register because it is to your benefit and the benefit of your family,” said Omar.

The opening of the hospital comes at a time when the Eastleigh business community is continuing to grow.

Many residents have been investing in various sectors within the business district. Leaders believe that with the increasing number of investments, Eastleigh can now host key facilities that were previously unavailable.

Omar welcomed the establishment of the new ultra-modern hospital and noted that it marks a turning point for healthcare access in the area. He said that in the past, residents were often forced to seek treatment in other parts of Nairobi or even outside the country due to the lack of advanced health services within Eastleigh.

He stated that the situation has now changed, as the community now has a facility capable of offering a wide range of medical services.

The Secretary General also encouraged more individuals and organisations to consider investing in Eastleigh. He described the area as a complete commercial hub where all essential services can now be found.

“We are urging more people to come and invest in Eastleigh because Eastleigh is one place you will find everything,” he said.

While commenting on the role of the new hospital, he added that it will benefit all residents, especially those who are enrolled in the Social Health Insurance Fund. He stressed that the availability of SHIF and the presence of a functional hospital will make it easier for families to access critical medical care without the need for long-distance travel or high expenses.

Globcare Hospital is expected to offer a wide range of medical services, including a surgical theatre, CT scan, DEXA scan, maternity care, X-ray, dialysis, and laboratory services. The hospital aims to address both outpatient and inpatient needs for the community.

One of the hospital’s directors, Abdirizak Ahmed, stated that the facility was a result of extensive planning and investment. He said that the hospital will serve all residents of Eastleigh and the surrounding areas.

“It will be serving everybody. People here will no longer need to travel outside to get this kind of facility,” said Abdirizak.

The event was attended by several senior doctors, health professionals, and political leaders.
