EPRA maintains Super Petrol price, reduces Diesel and Kerosene by Sh2

By |

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced that the price of Super Petrol in the country will remain unchanged at Sh217 for the upcoming month.

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced that the price of Super Petrol in the country will remain unchanged at Sh217 for the upcoming month. However, there is a slight reduction in the prices of Diesel and Kerosene, both decreasing by Sh2. The new prices for Diesel and Kerosene will now be Sh203.47 and Sh203.06, respectively, in Nairobi.

This decision comes after EPRA's regular review of fuel prices, taking into account various factors such as global oil prices, exchange rates, and local taxes. The authority aims to balance the interests of consumers and ensure stability in the energy sector.

EPRA clarified that the prices presented include the 16 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) in adherence to the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020, and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.

The decision to keep Super Petrol prices steady is notable, considering the global fluctuations in oil prices and geopolitical events that can impact the cost of fuel. EPRA's move to slightly reduce Diesel and Kerosene prices could be a relief for consumers, particularly those who heavily rely on these fuels for transportation and household needs.
