Major (Retired) Bashir Abdullahi, the Member of Parliament for Mandera North, highlighted the severe damage to infrastructure, the collapse of health facilities, and the alarming rate of food shortages in the region. Expressing concern over the lack of life-saving measures from the national government, he questioned why Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who is coordinating the flood disaster response, had not yet visited the worst-affected areas to gather firsthand information.

Aden Keynan, the Member of Parliament for Eldas, called for urgent intervention by the national government and humanitarian agencies, urging the official declaration of the El Niño floods as a national disaster. This sentiment was echoed by all leaders from the region during the press conference.
"The depth and magnitude of the floods are extremely disastrous, yet our plea for intervention to avert the loss of more human lives is not being responded to," lamented MP Keynan.
Farah Maalim, the Member of Parliament for Dadaab, urged the government to seek support from the international community, highlighting that Kenya lacked the full capacity to address the dire situation affecting over 2 million people. He expressed concern about the government's apparent laxity in responding to the El Niño rains crisis in the region.
MP Maalim called for the deployment of helicopters to urgently supply relief food and drugs. Yakub Adow, the Member of Parliament for Bura North in Tana River County, criticised the intervention and mitigation measures taken by both the county and national governments. He decried what he perceived as total neglect by those responsible for addressing the dire situation in the region, citing the sweeping away of almost all roads in his constituency as a compelling reason for an immediate helicopter deployment to airlift food supplies to the affected areas.
