PSC advertises vacancy for Vice-Chancellor position at UoN, deputy VC at KU

Top universities in Kenya are set to receive new leadership as the Public Service Commission (PSC) announces a range of high-profile vacancies for critical academic and administrative roles.

Among the institutions seeking new leaders is the University of Nairobi (UoN), which is looking to fill the position of Vice-Chancellor, alongside other key vacancies at leading public universities.

The vacancies which were announced in a notice on Tuesday, include positions at the University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University, and Tharaka University, are part of a broader initiative to inject fresh leadership into the higher education sector.

The positions include Vice-Chancellor at UoN, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) at Kenyatta University, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Finance) at UoN, as well as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration, Finance, Planning, and Development) at Tharaka University.

Notably, two of these roles have been re-advertised, signalling the PSC's dedication to selecting the right candidates.

According to the PSC, these recruitment efforts align with the government's mission to reform and modernise public service.

"We are committed to finding leaders who align with our vision of a citizen-centric public service," said the PSC CEO.

The positions require candidates with proven leadership skills, academic expertise, and a commitment to improving resource management in Kenya's public universities.

The recruitment process, in accordance with Section 35(1)(a)(v) of the Universities Act, 2012 (as amended), is expected to bring in leaders capable of guiding universities through a period of transformation and growth.
