KUCCPS opens applications for diploma upgrade in teacher training

Applicants are required to log into the KUCCPS portal and select a public TTC of their choice to begin the application. The intake is scheduled for August, and the application process will remain open for the next two weeks.
Teachers holding P1 and ECDE certificates now have an opportunity to upgrade their qualifications, following the opening of the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) application portal for the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE).
In a statement released on Wednesday, KUCCPS said the application process will enable qualified candidates to pursue the diploma through a centralised placement system.

The move is part of a broader initiative by the Ministry of Education to improve teaching quality and support professional growth for educators across the country.
“The Ministry of Education has introduced this programme to provide teachers with P1 or ECDE certificates with a pathway to upgrade their qualifications to diploma level,” read part of the announcement.
To be eligible, applicants must hold a Certificate in Primary Teacher Education (P1) or Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE), both awarded by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), and have a minimum KCSE grade of C. The training will take place at 33 public Primary Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) located across the country.
Applicants are required to log into the KUCCPS portal and select a public TTC of their choice to begin the application. The intake is scheduled for August, and the application process will remain open for the next two weeks.
KUCCPS urged interested candidates to apply early to secure available slots in their preferred institutions.
“The application portal is now live,” the agency said, adding that the diploma programme is designed to align with the requirements of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system.
Those facing difficulties during the application process have been advised to seek assistance at nearby Huduma Centres.
