KUCCPS opens recruitment for CEO, sets October 28 application deadline

The successful candidate will be appointed for a five-year term, renewable once based on performance, with remuneration determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened a recruitment drive for the position of Chief Executive Officer, Grade 1.

The role, as announced in a notice on Tuesday, is pivotal in ensuring smooth coordination of university and college placements, advising the government on education matters, and guiding students in their career choices.

KUCCPS, established under Section 55 of the Universities Act, 2012, is tasked with placing government-sponsored students in universities and colleges, sharing information about programmes and their costs, prioritising areas of study as outlined by the government, collecting placement data, and implementing career guidance initiatives for learners.

The CEO will lead the Secretariat in delivering these critical functions while maintaining compliance with government policies and regulations.

As the organisation’s accounting officer and board secretary, the Chief Executive Officer will oversee strategic planning, develop long-term initiatives, manage annual operating budgets, and ensure prudent utilisation of resources.

The position entails guiding the development and execution of performance contracts, managing board communications, safeguarding institutional assets, and nurturing a motivated and high-performing team.

The CEO will also advise the board on policy and strategy, guarantee adherence to constitutional and regulatory requirements, supervise internal monitoring systems, and ensure effective dissemination of information on educational programmes.

Key responsibilities include enhancing the corporate image of KUCCPS, engaging stakeholders, overseeing quality management systems, and ensuring proper reporting of technical, financial, and administrative matters to the board.

Applicants must possess at least fifteen years of cumulative work experience, including five years in a senior management role.

Candidates are expected to hold a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from recognised institutions, have completed a leadership course of at least four weeks, maintain professional membership in relevant bodies where applicable, and hold valid practising certificates if required.

Competence in computer applications, demonstrated managerial expertise, and adherence to Chapter Six of the Constitution are mandatory.

The successful candidate will be appointed for a five-year term, renewable once based on performance, with remuneration determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

Applications, including two hard copies of letters, academic and professional certificates, and testimonials, must be submitted by October 28, 2025, at 5:00 pm. Soft copy applications can be sent to [email protected], with a copy to [email protected], before the deadline.

KUCCPS emphasised that candidates must uphold high ethical standards and professionalism, warning that canvassing or submission of false information will result in disqualification.

Women, youth, marginalised communities, and persons living with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
