Ministry of Education says public holiday won’t affect ongoing KCSE exams

The KCSE exams will conclude on November 22, with the final paper being a Physics practical.
The Ministry of Education has assured Kenyans that the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams scheduled for Friday, November 1, 2024, will continue as planned, despite the government's declaration of the day as a public holiday.
This comes after the acting Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration Musalia Mudavadi announced the holiday to mark the swearing-in of the Deputy President-designate Kithure Kindiki.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba on Thursday evening issued a statement reiterating that the exams would go on uninterrupted.
"The Ministry of Education wishes to inform the public that the declaration of the holiday will not interrupt the ongoing KCSE examination papers scheduled for Friday, 1st November 2024," Ogamba said.
Ogamba further instructed members of the Multi-Agency Examinations Administration Team to be on duty as scheduled to ensure a smooth administration of all examination activities as per the ministry's guidelines.
The directive also extends to other basic education institutions currently in session.
Ogamba said the government aims to maintain stability during this national transition while supporting students sitting their final exams.
KCSE exams commenced officially on Tuesday, October 22, with candidates beginning with practical and oral exams for elective subjects ahead of the main written papers scheduled to start on November 4.
The KCSE exams will conclude on November 22, with the final paper being a Physics practical.
This year’s exams will be held in 10,755 centres and will have the largest number of candidates ever recorded — 965,501 — up from 903,138 in 2023.
