By |

The vacancies are spread across public primary, junior, and secondary schools, with 5,862 positions in primary schools, 21 in junior schools, and 2,824 in secondary schools.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the recruitment of 8,707 teachers to replace those who exited the service due to natural attrition.

The vacancies according to a notice on Tuesday are spread across public primary, junior, and secondary schools, with 5,862 positions in primary schools, 21 in junior schools, and 2,824 in secondary schools.

Successful candidates will be hired on permanent and pensionable terms of service.

Interested and qualified individuals must meet specific eligibility criteria to apply.

"To qualify for recruitment, candidates must be Kenyan citizens, hold a P1 certificate for primary schools or a diploma in education for junior and secondary schools, and be registered with the Teachers Service Commission," the commission said.

The application process will be entirely online, and candidates must submit their applications through the TSC's official website, www.tsc.go.ke, or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke, from December 31, 2024, to January 13, 2025.

Online applications

The commission noted that only online applications will be considered, and manual applications will not be accepted.

In its notice, TSC also warned applicants to be cautious of fraudulent schemes.

"The recruitment exercise is free of charge. We caution applicants against fraudsters who may try to extort money from unsuspecting individuals," the commission stated.

It further advised that any fraudulent activity should be reported to the nearest TSC office, the commission's headquarters, or the police.

The TSC has also highlighted that applicants who have not previously been employed by the commission will be given preference in the recruitment process.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to present original academic and professional certificates for verification.

The commission reiterated its commitment to equal opportunity employment, in line with constitutional provisions, and encouraged persons with disabilities (PWDs) to apply.

Detailed information on available vacancies, including by county and school, is available on the TSC website.

In addition to the basic qualifications, the TSC said candidates must not submit more than one application.

"Filling more than one application will result in automatic disqualification," the commission warned.

This recruitment process is part of the TSC's efforts to fill critical gaps in the teaching workforce and ensure that schools across the country are adequately staffed.

The commission has also outlined that successful candidates will be deployed in various counties depending on where the vacancies exist.
