Kimanzi confident as Harambee Stars gear up for Mapinduzi Cup
Interim Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi has provided an update on the team's preparations for the 2025 Mapinduzi Cup. With five training sessions under their belt, Kimanzi praised the players’ efforts and highlighted the progress made in building a competitive squad from the 38-man roster. The tournament is set to take place in Zanzibar from 3rd to 13th January 2025.
Interim coach Francis Kimanzi has shared his thoughts on the ongoing training sessions for the Kenyan national team, Harambee Stars, as they prepare for the upcoming Mapinduzi Cup.
The team has now completed five intensive training sessions, which Kimanzi described as highly productive.

“We’ve had five sessions. We’ve been working very hard, and so far, we’re fortunate to have conducted double sessions without any injuries,” Kimanzi remarked.
He expressed satisfaction with the players’ ability to train consistently and integrate seamlessly into the team’s system.

While the final squad is yet to be confirmed, Kimanzi remains optimistic. He highlighted the dynamic nature of the team, noting that players continue to show improvement with each session.
“The assessment process is gradual because players perform differently depending on the training objectives. However, from the squad of 38, we already have a solid foundation to build on,” he explained.
Kimanzi also emphasised the team's readiness and competitiveness for the tournament, which is scheduled to take place in Zanzibar from 3rd to 13th January 2025.
“The hard work and energy the players bring to every session have significantly improved their performance. We’re confident that we can field a competitive team for the Mapinduzi Cup. That’s not a concern,” he concluded.
