Gor Mahia beat KCB on Monday morning by a single goal to revive the FKF Premier League title race as they narrowed the gap at the top to just three points.
The match, originally slated for Sunday, was postponed to Monday morning, April 7, after match officials ruled the venue unfit for play due to a heavy downpour.

KCB headed into the fixture following a 2-2 draw with Kakamega Homeboyz, which left them with 40 points. Gor Mahia, on the other hand, were also coming off a draw against AFC Leopards in the highly anticipated Mashemeji Derby which left them on 43 points.
The game kicked off in earnest, with both teams showing determination to outdo each other. The intensity was evident early on, as Gor Mahia’s Kennedy Onyango went down with an injury just six minutes into the match and was forced to come off, replaced by Geoffrey Ochieng.
A free-kick goal by Austin Odhiambo in the 33rd minute brought the game to life, giving the 22-time champions Gor Mahia a taste of victory. Just before halftime, defender Sylvester Owino was shown a yellow card for foul play. The first half ended 1-0 in favor of Gor Mahia.
The second half reignited rivalries, even on the touchline. Gor Mahia head coach Sinisa Mihic was shown a red card in the 49th minute for dissent. KCB nearly equalized in the 64th minute with a well-struck free kick, but Gor’s goalkeeper, Gad Mathews, pulled off a brilliant save to preserve the lead.

The crucial win saw the 22-time champions leap to 46 points with a game in hand, just two points behind second-placed Tusker FC, who sit on 48 points, and only three points adrift of league leaders Kenya Police, who have 49 points.
