Ronald Okoth leaves Sofapaka as CEO as contract comes to an end

He extended his gratitude to club president Elly Kalekwa, who entrusted him with the leadership role, as well as the entire management, staff, technical bench, players, fans, and partners.
Ronald Okoth has officially stepped down from his role as the Chief Executive Officer of Sofapaka FC following the expiry of his contract.
Okoth, a former striker, took up the reins at Sofapaka in April 2024. His appointment came at a time when the club was grappling with on-field struggles and administrative uncertainty. In just over a year, he helped steer the 2009 Kenyan Premier League champions back to stability.

"We want to recruit fans and have them officially register as members. This will help us track membership and open branches in areas like Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, and Meru. We now have a policy of signing young, talented players," he said during the club's turnaround.
In his first season at the helm, Sofapaka battled relegation and narrowly survived after edging Naivas FC in a tense promotion/relegation playoff. The turnaround was more evident in the 2024/25 campaign, where the club showed signs of resurgence, finishing a respectable seventh in the FKF Premier League standings.
In a statement shared on Tuesday, Okoth announced his departure and reflected on his time with the club.
“I would like to formally announce that I have stepped down from my position as the CEO of Sofapaka following the expiration of my contract. It has been a great privilege and honour to lead this incredible club, and I want to take this moment to express my deepest appreciation to each of you,” he said.
He extended his gratitude to club president Elly Kalekwa, who entrusted him with the leadership role, as well as the entire management, staff, technical bench, players, fans, and partners.
“Together, we've navigated challenges, achieved key milestones, and laid a strong foundation for the club's future. I'm proud of the progress we've made, both on and off the pitch,” he added.
Despite stepping down from the CEO role, Okoth affirmed his continued commitment to the club, vowing to support ongoing strategic projects and initiatives.
“Sofapaka will always be home, and I will remain fully committed to supporting the club in every way I can,” he concluded.
With the new season set to kick off in September, Sofapaka will now be looking to fill the void left by Okoth as they seek to build on the momentum of last season.
