FKF women’s league weekend: Bullets dominate, Kayole and Queens share spoils

Kenya Police Bullets light up the league with a 9–1 rout, while Vihiga Queens and Ulinzi Starlets maintain unbeaten runs in a tense 1–1 draw.

It was a thrilling weekend in the FKF Women’s Premier League as Kenya Police Bullets produced a record-breaking performance, while title contenders Vihiga Queens and Ulinzi Starlets played out a hard-fought stalemate.

In Kisumu, defending champions Kenya Police Bullets ran riot against Kisumu Allstarlets, cruising to a stunning 9–1 victory—the biggest scoreline of the season so far. Kisumu goalkeeper Grace Tambo had a night to forget as the Bullets’ relentless attack tore through her defence.

Emily Morang’a opened the scoring in the 10th minute, before Margaret Kunihira, famously known as “Magical Maggy,” doubled the lead with a thunderous free kick just ten minutes later. Medina and Morang’a added two quick goals to give the Bullets a commanding 4–0 lead by halftime.

After the break, the champions showed no mercy, stretching their advantage to 7–0 before Kisumu managed a consolation goal. Rebecca Ondato and Mwachi completed the rout with the eighth and ninth goals, respectively. Kunihira, meanwhile, secured her second consecutive hat-trick, highlighting Bullets’ ruthless form.

In the day’s headline fixture, Vihiga Queens and Ulinzi Starlets played out a tense 1–1 draw, with both sides keeping their unbeaten records intact. Despite an intense contest, neither team managed to find a decisive breakthrough, leaving the title race finely balanced.

At the Bungoma grounds, Bungoma Queens and Kayole Starlets also shared the spoils in a 0–0 draw. Kayole goalkeeper Pauline Kathuruh was the standout performer, making several crucial saves, including a spectacular stop in the 87th minute that preserved her team’s clean sheet.

Elsewhere, Madira Soccer Assassins earned a morale-boosting 2–0 win over Kibera Soccer Women. Brenda Awuor struck early in the fifth minute, and the hosts sealed the victory late after Kibera were reduced to ten players following Vivian Shiyonzo’s red card in the 69th minute. Madira capitalised on the advantage to score their second goal in the 85th minute.

The weekend’s results reaffirm Kenya Police Bullets’ dominance, while Vihiga Queens and Ulinzi Starlets continue to set the early pace in the race for the Women’s Premier League crown.
