The police have launched a manhunt for the host of the victims as well as the owner of the house that was hosting them.

Four junior officers were on Tuesday morning arrested at a house in Githurai where 37 Ethiopians were being held illegally.

The arrest happened during a multi-agency operation led by the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) of the DCI in collaboration with the regular police.

According to the police, the 37 were found sleeping on the floor in one house at Kizito, Mwihoko, in unclear circumstances.

"An extended search was conducted in the adjacent plot after two men were seen jumping a perimeter wall and it was established the two were police officers," police said in a report filed under OB number 09/20/02/24 at Mwihoko Police Station.

The two suffered ankle injuries while fleeing the ambush.

The officers claimed they were going after the foreigners who are suspected to be victims of human trafficking.

While the multiagency team was still at the scene, two more officers from Starehe police station arrived at the scene with two other handcuffed aliens on board a motor vehicle.

All officers were armed at the time of the arrest.

The police have launched a manhunt for the host of the victims as well as the owner of the house that was hosting them.

Also recovered at the scene was a motor vehicle belonging to one of the officers.

All vehicles were taken to Mwihoko police station and the officers were escorted to DCI headquarters for interrogation.
