Harambee Stars make late changes ahead of CHAN 2024 kick-off

Kenya’s Harambee Stars have made three late changes to their squad for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), replacing injured and ineligible players just days before their tournament debut.
Kenya’s Harambee Stars have made three late changes to their final squad for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), just days before the tournament begins on 2 August 2025.
Midfielder Brian Musa has been ruled out through injury, while forward Mohammed Bajaber misses out after signing with Tanzanian giants Simba SC making him ineligible for the tournament that only features players based in their local leagues. Defender Swaleh Pamba has also been dropped from the squad.

In response, head coach Benni McCarthy has called up three new faces, Edward Omondi of Sofapaka, Chrispine Erambo from Tusker, and Brian Michira of Shabana FC. The trio now joins the 25-man squad set to represent Kenya in its first-ever CHAN appearance.
Kenya will open its campaign on 3 August 2025 against DR Congo at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani. They will then face Angola, Morocco, and Zambia in a challenging Group A lineup. With home support expected to boost morale, the team is aiming to make a memorable impact in front of local fans.
