The new schedule, which takes effect on Friday, August 1, 2025, will offer a more streamlined travel experience for commuters in Ngong, Rongai, Mai Mahiu and Suswa.

In a statement posted on X on Thursday, Kenya Railways confirmed that the adjustments were made to better serve the growing number of leisure travellers using the service.

The leisure train has become a popular option for Kenyans looking to explore the scenic landscapes of the Rift Valley, especially over weekends.

"The Suswa Leisure Train has adjusted its timings to better serve our passengers in Ngong, Rongai, Mai Mahiu, and Suswa. Travel just got more convenient!" the statement reads.

The full timetable was also shared via a poster accompanying the X statement. According to the new schedule, the train, which operates every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, will depart from Nairobi at 8:50 am.

The train is scheduled to arrive in Rongai at 9:14 am, before leaving five minutes later at 9:19 am.

It will reach the Ngong Terminal at 9:34 am, picking up and dropping passengers, before departing at 9:39 am. The train will then make its way to Mai Mahiu, arriving at 10:24 am. It will depart Mai Mahiu at 10:27 am, before finally reaching Suswa at 10:55 am.

On the other hand, the return trip from Suswa is scheduled to begin at 4:05 pm. The train will stop at Mai Mahiu at 4:30 pm, departing at 4:33 pm., before arriving in Ngong at 5:20 pm and leaving at 5:25 pm.

Each ticket is tied to a specific train, date, and time, and is non-transferable. Travellers found on a different train from the one booked will be required to pay the applicable fare for that class, along with a 30 per cent penalty.
