CCTV footage from the day of the incident reportedly shows the nanny working with the male suspect to execute the robbery. The video captures the man forcibly entering the house after the nanny hesitated to let him in. Once inside, the assailant pursued and brutally attacked a 20-year-old house help who was attempting to flee.
According to the DCI, the attacker used a hammer to assault the victim, leaving her with grievous injuries after she fell near the kitchen door. The footage also shows the nanny leaving the house with the intruder after stealing valuables, including gold jewellery, a laptop, a phone, and cash worth Sh335,000.
“Reports filed at Pangani Police Station indicate the duo assaulted the other maid, leaving her for dead in the bathroom,” the DCI said.
“In a shocking turn of events, the duo reportedly assaulted the other maid, leaving her for dead in the bathroom. They then made off with a haul with a gold set valued at Sh210,000, a Lenovo XY laptop worth Sh110,000, and an Infinix phone priced at Sh15,000.”
The victim, who sustained severe injuries, was found with a broken tooth and multiple wounds on her head, hands, and legs. Authorities also noted signs of whipping on her body.
The employer, who was out with his children then, had left the house under the care of the two house helps. His wife was reportedly in India receiving medical treatment.
The DCI revealed that the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing processing ahead of her arraignment. The search for her accomplice, who remains at large, is ongoing.
“Meanwhile, the manhunt for her accomplice, who remains at large, is still in full swing,” the DCI said in their statement.
