Two brothers arrested in Mombasa over Sh22.5 million bhang haul
The arrest comes amid ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse in the Coast region, where law enforcement agencies have been battling an influx of illicit substances, particularly bhang and heroin.
Two brothers working as mechanics at Mombasa’s railway yards have been arrested in connection with a major drug trafficking operation after detectives seized 750kg of bhang worth Sh22.5 million in a dawn raid at Kombani, Kwale County, on Wednesday.
The suspects are believed to be working for an experienced bulk supplier linked to Tanzanian traffickers operating through Migori.

Authorities say the drug cartel is notorious for supplying drug dens within the South Coast region and Malindi.
A senior detective who sought anonymity noted, "This is a well-organised syndicate that has been flooding drugs into our streets. We have been closely monitoring their activities, and this arrest marks a major breakthrough in dismantling their network," he said.
The suspects were taken to Moi International Airport Police Station and are set to be arraigned at the Kwale Law Courts on Thursday.
Meanwhile, detectives have intensified investigations to track down the main supplier and other accomplices involved in the cross-border trade.
Authorities have vowed to sustain a crackdown on drug cartels in the region, warning that traffickers will face severe consequences.
"We will not relent in the fight against drugs. Anyone involved should know that their days are numbered," added a senior anti-narcotics officer.
