Met says Kenya to experience continued rainfall this week, occasional dry spells

In the coming week, parts of the northwestern and coastal regions will receive occasional rainfall, though this may not meet the official criteria for the season’s full onset.
The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a rainfall forecast for the week from March 25 to March 31, predicting showers in Nairobi, parts of the Rift Valley, southeastern lowlands, the highlands east and west of the Rift Valley and the northeastern region.
These rains will be accompanied by occasional dry spells, with daytime temperatures expected to reach 30°C in some regions.

According to the met department, the ongoing long rains, which began earlier this month, will continue this week.
While Nairobi and surrounding areas will experience rain, regions like the Rift Valley and southeastern lowlands are expected to see more frequent downpours.
This weather is characteristic of the March-April-May long rains, which usually begin in mid-March and extend into May.
The rainfall in parts of the country is expected to be heavy, particularly in the highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the southeastern lowlands.
The northeastern region, which had a delayed start to the long rains, will experience consistent showers this week, though this could be followed by periods of dry weather.
As for temperatures, daytime highs are expected to hit 30°C in areas like the Coast, northeastern, and northwestern Kenya, while the cooler Central Highlands and Central Rift Valley will experience lower temperatures, dropping to 10°C at night.
The long rains are also expected to cause a slight shift in the weather patterns of some regions.
