President Ruto receives final IEBC nominees report from selection panel

President Ruto is now expected to forward the names of the nominees to Parliament for vetting and approval.
President William Ruto was on Tuesday presented with the final report detailing the recruitment of candidates for the roles of Chairperson and Commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The IEBC Selection panel submitted the report to President Ruto at State House, Nairobi.

Following the presentation, the Head of State took to the social media platform X, to express appreciation to the IEBC Selection Panel for conducting a thorough selection process.
"This morning, I received the report on the recruitment of nominees for the positions of Chairperson and Members of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) from the IEBC Selection Panel, State House, Nairobi. I commend the panel, chaired by Dr Nelson Makanda, for their diligent and commendable work," the statement reads.
Further, President Ruto noted that he will forward the names of the nominees to Parliament for vetting and approval.
"In accordance with the provisions of the IEBC Act, I will nominate and transmit the names to the National Assembly in full fidelity to the constitutional principles that guide our system of governance," he said.

The delivery of the report comes after the conclusion of a comprehensive interview process. The selection panel finished interviews for the Chairperson post on March 26, 2025 and wrapped up the interviews for Commissioner positions by April 25.
A total of 11 individuals were interviewed for the Chairperson position, including former Judiciary Chief Registrar Anne Amadi and former Commission for Implementation of the Constitution of Kenya (CIC) Chair Charles Nyachae.
Saul Simiyu Wasilwa, Abdulqadir Lorot Ramadhan, Joy Mdivo, Edward Katama Ngeywa, Erastus Edung Ethekon, Francis Kakai Kissinger, Jacob Ngwele Muvengei, Lilian Wanjiku Manegene and Robert Akumu Asembo were similarly interviewed for the Chairperson position.
The panel commenced interviews for IEBC Commissioners on March 27, concluding them a month later. Of the 111 applicants shortlisted for these roles, 106 appeared before the panel for questioning.
