Spotify brings video podcasts and music videos to Apple TV in major app overhaul
Spotify says the Apple TV app has been “rebuilt from the ground up” with smoother navigation, new visual layouts, and faster browsing.
Spotify has officially rolled out one of its most significant updates to date for Apple TV users, introducing video podcasts, music videos, and a fully redesigned interface to its tvOS app.
After years of user requests and speculation, the update finally bridges the gap between Spotify’s mobile and smart TV experiences, marking the company’s biggest living-room push since launching on tvOS in 2016.

Spotify says the Apple TV app has been “rebuilt from the ground up” with smoother navigation, new visual layouts, and faster browsing.
The highlight, however, is clear: users can now watch video podcasts directly on their TVs, bringing shows like The Joe Rogan Experience and Call Her Daddy to the big screen for the first time.
Playback controls, including skip, speed adjustment, and Spotify Connect support, have also been added, allowing users to manage playback from their phones or tablets.
In addition, Spotify has launched music videos for select artists, allowing Premium subscribers in nearly 100 regions to switch seamlessly between audio and video modes. While the feature is still rolling out, it represents a strategic challenge to YouTube and Apple Music, both of which dominate the home video streaming space.
Alongside the new visuals, Spotify’s tvOS update introduces real-time lyrics, an “Up Next” queue manager, and the popular AI DJ feature, all previously exclusive to mobile and desktop platforms.
“People don’t just listen anymore, they watch, engage, and connect,” said a Spotify spokesperson in a press statement.
“This update reimagines how Spotify fits into your living room.”
The updated app is now available globally via the Apple TV App Store. Spotify video podcasts, however, are rolling out immediately worldwide where creators have enabled video distribution.
While competitors like YouTube and Apple Music may still lead in visual streaming, Spotify’s approach, blending music, video, and AI personalisation, could reshape how users experience entertainment at home.
