Tourism authority warns public over fake job scams linked to nonexistent lodges in Maasai Mara
The alert follows complaints to the authority regarding fake job advertisements by these entities, where unsuspecting applicants are asked to send money for Tourism Health or Food Handlers Certificates.
The Tourism Regulatory Authority has cautioned the public about fraudulent individuals and entities impersonating two game lodges in the Maasai Mara and Naboisho Conservancy.
In a statement, the authority said the individuals and entities are falsely claiming to represent Hotelio Gallare Game Camp Kenya Ltd (also referred to as Gallera, Galleria, or Gallary) and Zebrina Gazebo Game Lodge Kenya Ltd, purportedly operating within the Maasai Mara National Game Reserve and Naboisho Conservancy, Narok County.

The alert follows complaints to the authority regarding fake job advertisements by these entities, where unsuspecting applicants are asked to send money for Tourism Health or Food Handlers Certificates.
"TRA confirms that no such facilities exist in the Maasai Mara region and cautions the public against engaging with anyone claiming to represent them. The public is further advised to remain vigilant and avoid making payments for job placements or document processing in the tourism sector," the authority's Director General Norbert Talam said.
He added that the actions are criminal in nature, and urged victims or witnesses to report such cases to the Tourism Regulatory Authority (TRA), Tourist Police Unit (TPU), or the nearest police station.
"We wish to remind the public to stay alert against unlicensed or rogue operators. Always verify that the facility or tour operator you book with is licensed by TRA," the authority added.
