KICD directs schools to submit Grade 10 enrolment, textbook data by June 19

The initial distribution of Grade 10 textbooks was carried out using provisional enrolment data provided by the Ministry of Education.

The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) has directed all public senior school principals to submit updated Grade 10 enrolment and textbook distribution data within seven days as it moves to verify learning material allocations ahead of the next rollout phase.
The exercise, which has a June 19 deadline, will be used to confirm actual learner numbers in schools and compare them with textbook supplies already distributed under the first phase of the programme.
The initial distribution of Grade 10 textbooks was carried out using provisional enrolment data provided by the Ministry of Education.
“KICD informs all senior school principals that the first phase of the distribution of Grade 10 textbooks has been completed, guided by the data initially provided by the Ministry of Education,” the notice reads.
Schools are now required to submit the current number of Grade 10 learners per subject, as well as records showing the number of textbooks received in each subject area.

The information will be used to identify schools with shortages and those with surplus allocations.
“The Institute is seeking to confirm the Grade 10 student enrolment data in every public senior school by the end of First Term 2026 in terms of numbers of learners taking various subjects,” the notice added.
“All Principals of Public Senior Schools are requested to submit the current number of Grade 10 learners by subject and textbooks received per subject.”
Submission will be done through an online form provided by KICD, with schools that have already submitted the data not required to resubmit.
The verification exercise is part of the implementation of the government’s One-to-One textbook policy, which aims to ensure each learner receives the required learning materials under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
KICD has also asked schools that did not receive textbooks or those that received excess supplies to report the discrepancies through its official communication channels.
