A family in Bomet County has been left devastated after three children died in a night fire that trapped them inside a kitchen where they had been sleeping.
According to Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei, who confirmed the incident on Thursday, the victims, a seven-year-old child and six-year-old twins, perished after flames swept through the structure.
The incident occurred in Kimatisio Village, Nyongores Ward in Chepalungu Constituency, where the fire reportedly spread rapidly before the children could escape.
The cause of the blaze has not been established.
Sigei expressed sorrow over the tragedy, noting the deep pain caused by the loss of children in such circumstances.
“My heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved family, relatives, friends, and the entire Kimatisio community during this painful and unimaginable time. No words can truly ease the pain of losing young lives in such a tragic manner,” Sigei said.
The senator further said the loss had affected not only the immediate family but also the wider Chepalungu Constituency, where residents are struggling to come to terms with the tragedy.
Sigei assured the family of support as they navigate the mourning period, saying they would not face the situation alone.
“We stand with you in this moment of immense grief and sorrow, and we will support you as you come to terms with this painful loss,” he added.
