The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary closure of a section of the Nairobi Southern Bypass, from Ole Sereni Interchange to Ngong Road Interchange, to facilitate essential rehabilitation works.

In a notice from Director General Eng. Kungu Ndungu on Monday, the authority stated that the closure will commence on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at 8 pm and is expected to last until midnight on Sunday, January 5, 2025.

"Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas, follow the proposed traffic management plan below, and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site," read the notice.

The affected section of the bypass will undergo extensive repairs, including the rehabilitation of expansion joints on all bridges and the reconstruction of the concrete pavement at the Virtual Weighbridge. To accommodate these activities, both carriageways along this stretch will be closed.

"All traffic will be diverted through Mombasa Road (A8) Highway, Lang'ata Road, and Ngong Road as an alternative route during this period."

For inquiries and updates on the project's progress, the public is encouraged to reach out through KeNHA's official communication channels.

The rehabilitation of The Nairobi Southern Bypass forms part of KeNHA's broader efforts to improve countrywide road safety, especially along busy routes such as Ngong Road, Lang'ata Road, and Mombasa Road.
