KDF Muslims unite in sacred Ramadan worship

Colonel (Imam) Rajab Athman, Service Imam of the Kenya Army, emphasised the importance of charity as a means to seek forgiveness and cleanse one's soul from sins.

Muslims in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF)  joined Muslims worldwide in dedicating themselves to worship at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi during this sacred month.

Ramadan is a time for self-discipline and spiritual growth, marked by the belief that the Holy Qur'an was revealed during this period as a guide for humanity. It is a time that allows Muslims to deepen their relationship with God.

Brigadier (Dr) Ismail Awle, Chairman of the Kenya Defence Forces Muslim Council, underscored the importance of Ramadan for Muslims and encouraged them to observe it diligently, highlighting the significance of self-restraint and spiritual reflection.

"Ramadan teaches us to resist worldly temptations and focus on our connection with Allah," he said. "It's a time for self-reflection, prayer, and striving to become better individuals."

Colonel (Imam) Rajab Athman, Service Imam of the Kenya Army, emphasised the importance of charity as a means to seek forgiveness and cleanse one's soul from sins.

"Giving to those in need is a fundamental aspect of our faith," he remarked. "It allows us to purify our souls and seek forgiveness for our sins."

Following Islamic tradition and culture, dates were distributed to attendees by Brigadier (Dr) Ismail Awle, Colonel (Imam) Rajab Athman, and the Muslim Sub-branch,  to symbolise the breaking of the fast.

Most Muslims in Kenya are fasting for the tenth consecutive day and hope to celebrate Eid ul Fitr on the 10th of April.

During this month, Muslims are expected to feed the poor, fast and dedicate themselves to prayers.

Ramadan serves as a beacon of hope and spiritual renewal for Muslims worldwide. For the Kenya Defence Forces Muslim fraternity, it is a time of reflection, unity, and unwavering devotion to their country and faith.
