Nairobi, Kiambu to experience rainy, chilly weather this week

Coastal counties, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale, along with coastal parts of Tana River, will experience rainfall throughout the day and night.
The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a weather forecast warning of cooler-than-usual nights and intermittent rain across Nairobi, Kiambu, and other surrounding counties over the coming five days.
According to the update released on Monday evening, night-time temperatures in Nairobi and nearby highland counties such as Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka-Nithi are expected to fall as low as 7°C, accompanied by occasional light rain showers during the night.

Days in these counties will mostly be cloudy with light rain showers early in the day, which will give way to sunny spells by midday or early afternoon. Afternoon and evening showers are expected to continue through the week.
Despite the cold nights, daytime temperatures in the Eastern Highlands and parts of the Rift Valley are predicted to rise to around 25°C.
Counties in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and around the Lake Victoria Basin, including Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, and Nyamira, will experience occasional morning rains between Wednesday and Saturday.
These rains will alternate with clear skies during the mornings, while afternoons and nights are expected to be cloudier with chances of showers and thunderstorms in some areas.
In the South-Eastern Lowlands, which cover Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, and parts of inland Tana River, mornings will be cloudy but clear up by afternoon, resulting in sunny periods throughout the day from Wednesday to Saturday.
Nights will be partly cloudy and dry, with minimum temperatures around 10°C and daytime highs reaching 31°C, offering good weather for outdoor activities.
Coastal counties, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale, along with coastal parts of Tana River, will experience rainfall throughout the day and night.
Temperatures in these areas will stay warm, with lows of about 21°C and daytime highs up to 31°C during the week.
In the North-Western region, which includes Turkana and Samburu counties, the forecast predicts mainly dry and sunny days with partly cloudy nights.
Rain is expected on Friday afternoon, and residents should prepare for a wide temperature range, with highs near 37°C and lows dropping to 7°C at night.
The North-Eastern counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo will have long sunny spells with dry mornings and occasional afternoon showers, particularly on Wednesday.
While western and central Rift Valley counties will have scattered showers, northern and south-eastern parts of Kenya are expected to see mostly dry and sunny weather with only brief, localised rainfall mid-week.
