KCSE 2024 candidates have 21 days to apply for KMTC, TVET programmes
The KUCCPS, for the first time, has introduced a phased application process to accommodate the early intakes of these institutions.
Students who sat for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams now have 21 days to apply for placement in their preferred Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
This follows the opening of the placement portal by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) on Friday.

The KUCCPS, for the first time, has introduced a phased application process to accommodate the early intakes of these institutions.
The portal according to Dr Agnes Mercy Wahome, the CEO of KUCCPS, will remain open until February 14, 2025, allowing students who plan to join the March intake at KMTC and TVET colleges to submit their applications on time.
"Universities and Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) normally have their intakes later in the year, while KMTC and TVETs admit students in January, March, and May. Hence, the need to have a phased application process to ensure students can transition to colleges promptly," she explained.
The application process is open to all Form Four leavers who sat their KCSE exams from 2000 to 2024.
Wahome noted that candidates who are re-sitting their KCSE exams this year will also have the opportunity to apply for KMTC and TVET programmes based on their improved grades, with the next intake in September.
Expanded training opportunities
This year, KMTC has expanded training opportunities, offering spots in 90 campuses across the country, up from 87 in 2024.
New campuses have also been opened in Kerio Valley, Marimanti, and Marsabit. Popular courses like the Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Diploma in Clinical Medicine, and Certificate in Community Health Assistant are now available on more campuses.
Similarly, over 260 TVET institutions, including national polytechnics and university TVET institutes, are also open for applications.
Wahome encouraged students to select institutions close to home to reduce living costs.
"We encourage applicants to select TVET institutions and KMTC campuses within their localities as this will make it cheaper for them to operate from their homes," she said.
With the expansion of programmes, KMTC is offering new courses, such as the Diploma in Health Insurance Management and the Diploma in Mortuary Science, to meet the growing demand for skilled workers in the health sector.
"These courses will help provide professionals for the Universal Health Care programme and train morticians for the industry," Wahome said.
Students are urged to apply through the KUCCPS portal at students.kuccps.net or visit the KUCCPS website at www.kuccps.ac.ke for detailed guidelines, available programs, and requirements.
In addition, KUCCPS has warned applicants to remain vigilant against online fraudsters, with support available through designated colleges in all 47 counties, including Huduma Centres.
