Mbadi, Miano make new appointments across ministries

A wave of fresh appointments has been made across several ministries, as Cabinet Secretaries move to strengthen leadership in key state institutions.

On Friday, Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi named Wilberforce Odhiambo and Kenneth Gatheru to the Board of Directors of Consolidated Bank. Odhiambo begins his three-year term on June 3, 2025, while Gatheru, who was first appointed in 2023 by President William Ruto, has been reappointed for another three years.

The two will oversee the bank’s governance, with a focus on ensuring all operations comply with the law.

Mbadi’s announcement comes just days after he appointed Monique Mukayagi to the Board of the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis. His latest moves reflect a continued effort to strengthen leadership across key institutions within the National Treasury.

In the Ministry of Agriculture, CS Mutahi Kagwe appointed several individuals to different state corporations. These include Malika Omar, Geoffrey Wachira Mahinda, Manyone David and Patrice Chumba to the Board of Nyayo Tea Zones Development Authority. He also appointed Kenneth Mburu, Joshua Koskei, Joyce Kioko and Bernard Wakhungu to the Board of the Agricultural Finance Corporation.

Additionally, Kagwe named Paul Munyiri Kaguamba and Milton Luchiri to the Board of Directors of the Pyrethrum Processing Company of Kenya.

In the education sector, CS Julius Ogamba appointed Adan Hassan to the Council of the North Eastern National Polytechnic for a three-year term. He also revoked the appointment of Rashid Kassim.

The appointments signal an ongoing reshuffle and restructuring effort by different ministries aimed at enhancing service delivery and aligning institutions with broader government goals.
