Distraught mother pleads for missing son's safe return after allegedly being abducted by KWS officers

"I beg the KWS officers, please give me back my son. Even if he is dead, bring me the body. Let me see my son. I beg you," an emotional Auma said.

A distressed mother, Elizabeth Auma, has made an emotional appeal to the government to help locate her son, Brian Odhiambo, who has been missing for six days after allegedly being abducted by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers.

Speaking on Friday, Auma begged authorities to act swiftly, voicing her deep anguish and fear for her son's safety.

"I have not eaten since my son went missing," she said tearfully.

"I beg the KWS officers, please give me back my son. Even if he is dead, bring me the body. Let me see my son. I beg you," an emotional Auma said.

Odhiambo, the family's breadwinner, disappeared on Saturday, January 18, 2025, after entering the protected area of Lake Nakuru National Park to fish, a prohibited activity.

Since then, the family has received no information about his arrest or whereabouts.

Auma described sleepless nights filled with anxiety, saying.

"I cannot sleep at night. I stay awake hoping that maybe, even if they have broken his legs, he will crawl and knock on the door asking for us to open it for him," she added.

Odhiambo's wife, Ivy Aoko, also called for his immediate release, insisting the strain on their family.

"We have two children who depend on him," she said.

Protests demanding Odhiambo's release have erupted in Nakuru, lasting three consecutive days.

The demonstrations reached a peak on Thursday when police clashed with protesters and lobbed teargas into a nearby school.

Despite reports that six KWS officers were arrested in connection to the incident, Auma dismissed the claims, saying the family has seen no evidence of such action.

The family and the community continue to call for justice and answers, as tensions remain high in the area.
