Media fraternity in grief after sudden deaths of CGTN’s Mudimba and KBC’s Parsayo
The deaths of the two journalists have cast a shadow over the media industry, with many struggling to come to terms with the loss of their colleagues.
Kenya’s media industry has been hit by tragedy following the deaths of two journalists, Nick Mudimba and Fredrick Parsayo, who passed away just days apart. Their sudden deaths have left colleagues and friends mourning their loss.
Mudimba, a seasoned journalist who worked with CGTN, KTN, Radio Africa and Switch TV, collapsed at his home in Syokimau, Machakos County, on Sunday evening. The cause of his death is yet to be established, but sources say he died at home and his body was later taken to the mortuary.

Mudimba was well known for his passion for sports.
In his last social media post, he encouraged Kenyans to turn up at the Nyayo Stadium for the national team’s match against Gambia.
“Let's fill Nyayo Stadium on Sunday. Gambia must fall. There's something about this Harambee Stars team,” he posted on X on March 21, 2025.
His colleagues expressed their grief over his passing, remembering him as vibrant and kind. They described him as a good and helpful journalist.
KBC is also mourning the sudden passing of its journalist, Fredrick Parsayo, who was found dead at his home in Kinoo, Kikuyu on Friday morning.
The broadcaster said the matter has been reported to Kinoo Police Station and investigations are underway to establish the circumstances of his death. His body was moved to St. Teresa Mortuary, where a post-mortem is scheduled.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all those affected by this loss,” KBC said in a statement.
Parsayo’s colleagues described him as a valued member of the editorial team whose presence will be deeply missed.
