Cabinet secretaries make new appointments to key state agencies

Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture Mutahi Kagwe has appointed John Gikandi Thongori to the Board of Directors of the National Cereals and Produce Board for a three-year term.
Kagwe also re-appointed Prof. Ezekiel Kiprop to the Pest Control Products Board for another three years.
At the Ministry of Defence, Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya appointed Brig.(Rtd.) J. N. Mururi, Brig. (Rtd.) P. T. Ibeere, and Brig. (Rtd.) D. C. Bartonjo as members of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation (KOFC) for a three-year term starting April 25, 2025.
Additionally, Lt. Col. (Rtd.) Edward Cherop Kimosop was appointed as a member of the Advisory Committee on Military Veterans for a one-year term effective May 1, 2025.
In the water sector, Eric Muriithi Muuga, Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, re-appointed Engineer James Wainaina to the Board of Directors of Athi Water Works Development Agency for a further three-year term.
Meanwhile, Attorney-General Dorcas Oduor named Agatha Lutala Karani, Sarah Wanjiru Migwi, and Dan Okoth Aceda to the Board of Directors of the Kenya Copyright Board, each to serve for three years from April 25, 2025. Their appointments are expected to boost the protection of intellectual property rights in Kenya.
Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua appointed six members to the National Council for Persons with Disabilities for three years.
The appointees are Elizabeth Chesang, Joseph Etyang, Freddah L. Seleto, Hannah N. Njeri, Duncan M. Chengo, and Ambassador Aggrey Shitsama.
In the education sector, Julius Ogamba, Cabinet Secretary for Education, appointed Margaret C. Koech, Joakim Mulaa, and Daniel Mutai to the Council of Ol’lessos National Polytechnic for a three-year term starting 25th February 2025.
The Public Service Commission, chaired by Ambassador Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri, extended the term of the Technical Committee to recommend terms and conditions of service for staff at the National Intelligence and Research University (NIRU) to June 30, 2025.
At the National Treasury, Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi re-appointed Edward N. Kobuthi (Dr.), Irene Njeri Wanyoike, Celine Anyango Orata, David J. O. Nyakang’o, and Ambassador Wellington Pakia Godo to the Privatisation Commission for one year.
Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development also made several appointments. Eunice Njoki Macharia was appointed Chairperson of the Estate Agents Registration Board for one year, while Mary Njeri Kamunyu and Regina Njoki Njue were named to the Land Surveyors’ Board for two years.
Wahome also appointed Daniel George Ruhara Maina as Chairperson of the Valuers Registration Board for three years.
