Nine killed as train and bus collide in Naivasha
Among those who lost their lives were four KPC staff members and five workers from a contracted cleaning service provider.
The Ministry of Energy and Petroleum has confirmed that nine people lost their lives in a tragic accident on Thursday involving a Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) staff bus and a Kenya Railways train near the Morendat Training and Conference Centre (MTCC) in Naivasha.
According to the Ministry, the bus was carrying 32 employees who had just finished their morning shift when it collided with the train at a railway crossing close to the training centre.

Among those who lost their lives were four KPC staff members and five workers from a contracted cleaning service provider.
The Ministry further stated that several others were injured in the crash and rushed to nearby hospitals, with those in critical condition evacuated to Nairobi for specialised medical treatment.
In a statement, the Ministry expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
The CS for Energy and Petroleum, Opiyo Wandayi, described the tragedy as a heavy loss and extended heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families.
Principal Secretary for the State Department of Petroleum, Mohamed Liban, and KPC Managing Director Joe Sang visited the accident site on Friday to offer support to the victims and their families.
The Ministry said it is working closely with other government agencies to investigate the cause of the accident and urged the public to avoid the accident site to allow emergency crews and officials from Kenya Railways and KPC to carry out their work safely.
"I take this opportunity to thank members of the public who responded to the tragedy alongside First Responders and emergency crews from KPC- assisting in the rescue and evacuation," Wandayi said.
"We are collaborating with various government agencies to determine the cause of the accident and will update the public in due course."
