Prepare for hot days, rains, and strong winds this week- Meteorological Department
The forecast indicates high daytime temperatures in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western regions, where maximum temperatures will rise above 30°C.
Kenyans are set to experience a mix of hot days, cool nights, and scattered rains across various regions this week, according to the latest weather forecast for September 9–15.
The Meteorological Department predicts that parts of the Highlands, east and west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and sections of the Rift Valley will continue to receive rainfall, with afternoon showers and thunderstorms expected in several areas.

The forecast indicates high daytime temperatures in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western regions, where maximum temperatures will rise above 30°C.
Mandera is expected to be the hottest at 37°C, followed by Lodwar at 36°C and Garissa at 35°C. In contrast, the coldest nights will be felt in Nyahururu at 7°C, while Nyeri and Narok will drop to 9°C and 10°C, respectively.
Strong southerly to south-easterly winds, exceeding 25 knots, are expected along the Coast, South-eastern Lowlands, and northern Kenya.
The regional outlook shows that western Kenya and the Rift Valley will have sunny mornings, giving way to afternoon and evening showers.
Nairobi and other parts of the Central Highlands will experience cloudy mornings with light rains, followed by sunshine and occasional evening showers.
North-eastern counties will mostly remain sunny, with occasional morning rains, while the South-eastern Lowlands will have cloudy mornings before clearing. The Coast is expected to remain largely sunny, with a few areas seeing morning and night showers.
A review of last week’s weather shows Bungoma received the highest rainfall at 91.2mm, including 59.2mm in a single day on September 7.
Meanwhile, Mandera recorded the hottest day at 37.4°C, and Nyahururu had the coldest night at 7.2°C. Residents are advised to prepare for these varying conditions and take necessary precautions.
