Residents in these regions have been urged to carry umbrellas and plan travel with caution amid intermittent showers and thunderstorms.
“Residents should prepare for brief sunny intervals in the mornings, with showers and thunderstorms occurring over several places in the afternoon,” KMD said.
Nighttime showers are expected in some areas, with maximum temperatures reaching 31°C and minimums dipping to 10°C.
In the North-western counties of Turkana and Samburu, sunny intervals will dominate most mornings, but showers and thunderstorms are forecast over a few places during afternoons, while nights remain partly cloudy. Daytime temperatures could reach 37°C, with lows around 10°C.
Highlands east of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka Nithi, will see mornings alternating between cloudy skies breaking into sunny intervals and rains over a few places. Afternoon showers are expected over a few places, with partly cloudy nights.
“Temperatures in these regions will range between 7°C in the mornings to 30°C in the afternoons,” the weatherman said.
In North-eastern counties such as Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo, rainfall is predicted over a few to several places, particularly on Saturday. Showers are expected to persist in the afternoons, with nights partly cloudy. Maximum temperatures will hover around 37–38°C, while minimums remain steady at 17°C.

Residents should anticipate temperatures ranging from 14°C in the mornings to 34°C in the afternoons, with occasional showers in the evenings.
Coastal counties, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and the coastal Tana River, are also expected to see occasional morning showers, with sunny intervals and partly cloudy nights. Daytime highs will range between 32°C and 33°C, with minimums around 23–24°C.
The weather department emphasised that the five-day outlook should be used alongside the daily 24-hour county-specific forecasts issued by the respective County Directors of Meteorological Services.
According to the department, light rain is less than 5mm, moderate is 5–20 mm, heavy is 21–50 mm, and very heavy exceeds 50 mm. Few places refer to rain affecting less than 33 per cent of an area, several places 33–66 per cent and most places more than 66 per cent.
