TSC warns about fake letters on deployment of JSS teachers

By |

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC)  today warned the public against false letters circulating online about the deployment of teachers to Junior Secondary School (JSS).

In a statement, TSC dismissed the letters as fake and misleading and called for action against the fraudsters out to scam the public.

The commission said the misleading communication is purported to be a circular from TSC CEO Nancy Macharia and was allegedly sent to all TSC regional directors,  county directors, and sub-county directors.

"It (the fake letters) called for the submission of the names of qualified teachers to be deployed to JSS for the upcoming academic year in 2025," reads the statement.

TSC further exposed that the circular was seeking teachers who met specific criteria for deployment.

Among the targets were teachers who could transition easily to teaching subjects in higher demand at the JSS level.

School principals were also reminded to consider the staffing needs of their institutions when selecting teachers for deployment.

“This initiative aims to ensure that the deployment is effective and meets the needs of our schools," stated the fake letter.

TSC, according to the fake letter, further requested that the names of the selected teachers be submitted to the sub-county directors by October 15, 2024.

The commission, however, confirmed that no official directives regarding the deployment of teachers to junior secondary schools have been issued.
