Duale highlighted that he will work with all stakeholders to achieve a greener and resilient Kenya.

Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry Aden Duale has vowed to address Kenya's pressing environmental issues.

Speaking after being sworn in at State House, Nairobi on Thursday, Duale emphasised his dedication to combating climate change and environmental degradation.

He acknowledged the significant environmental challenges Kenya faces which he said require innovative solutions.

"I am committed to tackling climate change, deforestation, and environmental degradation. Our goal is to meet our environmental targets and set a standard for sustainable development through science-based, data-driven, and involve collaboration with communities, stakeholders, and international partners," Duale said.

The CS stated that he is fully committed to transparency, accountability and inclusivity in all activities and initiatives he will undertake as Environment CS.

Duale highlighted that he will work with all stakeholders to achieve a greener and resilient Kenya.

"By working with all levels of government, civil society, and the private sector, we can achieve a greener, more resilient Kenya," he said.

"I look forward to engaging with you all and building a sustainable future for our country and future generations," the CS added.

Before he was moved to the Environment ministry, Duale served as Defence CS for almost two years, until President William Ruto dismissed his Cabinet on July 11, 2024. He is among 10 cabinet secretaries who served in the previous Cabinet.

During his vetting last week, Duale said his academic qualification and experience in public service were enough to show why he was qualified for the position.

"My academic qualifications, my experience as a Member of Parliament and as a leader in this country, the stint I had in the Ministry of Defence, my age, my role in private sector and business gives me the required testimonial," he said.

The former Defence CS also boasted of having a clean sheet with no criminal convictions or constitutional violations.

"I have never been indicted in any report of parliament, I have always had clearance from the criminal justice system, the EACC and DCI, I have never violated Chapter Six of the Constitution and Article 75 of the Constitution and I think I'm ready and willing to serve the people of Kenya," Duale added.
