Forward Vincent Nyabuto was the hero of the day, scoring twice to seal all three points after a dominant first-half display. Nyabuto opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Vihiga levelled midway through the second half. However, the forward struck again in the 70th minute with a composed finish to restore Gucha’s lead and ultimately their first NSL win.
In MCF Sports Complex, Ndalani, Migori Youth continued their impressive run with a narrow 1-0 win over MCF at Ndalani Grounds. Substitute Elvis Wafula once again made the difference, scoring shortly after halftime in the 48th minute to secure Migori’s fourth consecutive victory.
The visitors displayed defensive discipline and resilience, holding firm in the closing stages to maintain their perfect start to the campaign.
Meanwhile, at the KIHBT Grounds, Naivas FC produced a commanding 3-1 win over Mwatate United. Goals from Francis Nambute (28’), Emmanuel Lunalo (43’), and Kelvin Mwangi (68’) earned the hosts a comfortable victory. Naivas dominated possession throughout the contest, with their clinical finishing ensuring they returned to winning ways in style.
Elsewhere, Fortune Sacco edged Equity FC 1-0 in a tightly contested encounter. Collins Maina scored the decisive goal in the seventh minute, finishing off a clever short-corner routine.
Goalkeeper Malvin was in inspired form, pulling off several crucial saves, including a superb stop in stoppage time to preserve both the lead and a second successive clean sheet for Fortune Sacco.
At the Raila Odinga Stadium, Homa Bay, MOFA FC were held to a 0-0 draw by Darajani Gogo in a match marked by attacking intent but little end product.
MOFA created several chances through Omuga Marachar and Labo, but the visitors’ defence held firm. The game was paused in the 80th minute for a moment of silence in memory of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, before ending goalless.
