At least 94 police officers promoted after completing higher training courses

The officers completed a six-month leadership and management course at the national police colleges in Kiganjo and Emali.

At least 94 police officers have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in the latest changes affecting both regular officers and DCI detectives. This is according to two internal memos seen by The Eastleigh Voice.

The changes affecting 49 detectives take effect from November 28 and will see the officers drawn from specialised units don new badges.

"Inform them to wear appropriate badges pertinent to their new rank," a memo from the DCI said.

In the second memo, 45 police officers from across the country, including GSU officers, those stationed in Mandera, Nairobi, Homa Bay, Airwing, Bungoma, Embu, and Kiambu, amongst others, have been promoted in the new changes.

The officers were promoted after completing higher training and senior training courses.

More officers are due for promotion after taking the courses and undergoing interviews with their employer, the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).

The officers completed a six-month leadership and management course at the national police colleges in Kiganjo and Emali.

These promotional courses are designed to prepare officers, currently serving in the rank of Chief Inspector, for leadership roles in the Kenya Police Service, the Administration Police Service, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

The promotion interviews kicked off on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, and went on until Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

NPSC chairperson Eliud Kinuthia said that once promoted, the 183 officers will add to the 515 Chief inspectors promoted since 2019 when the current commission assumed office.
