Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that the cabinet meetings chaired by President William Ruto are mere formalities to rubber-stamp the president's personal decisions.

"Many people are not telling the president the truth. That is why most Kenyans are opposed to government programmes. I told the president that people think that we should first complete the inherited programmes," said Gachagua.
Gachagua who christened himself as the people's person picked the controversial matters of the canceled Adani contracts and and Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) to explain why most programmes were bulldozed to the cabinet despite his resistance.
"On the matter of Adani, I told the president in my meeting with him that the contracts were not beneficial to the country," claimed Gachagua.
According to him, the Adani contracts and the SHIF matters are entangled with corruption that will see Kenyans lose money.
"Nobody involved me. Had it come to the cabinet sub-committee that I chair then I would have been able to know everything from the beginning to the end but since the cabinet is a formality, certain things the president doesn't bring to the cabinet," claimed Gachagua.
This is not the first time Gachagua is blasting President Ruto over who he claimed is iron-fisted. Gachagua on, November 24, called out Kenya Kwanza leaders for allegedly being afraid of President Ruto.
Gachagua went on another classic political tirade during a church service at the AIPCA Kangari in Kigumo, Murang'a County, where he offered a fresh perspective of what led to his bitter fallout with President Ruto.
The self-styled 'truthful man' told the church that he was among the only leaders who could openly call out the President when he felt some of Ruto's decisions were detrimental to the citizens, citing the collapsed Adani deals as a classic example.
The former DP's latest comments are seen to be that of a man who had little left to lose in his political career, almost a month after getting impeached.
As the race for supremacy in 2027 continues to shape up, Gachagua is intent on consolidating the Mt Kenya bloc and has in the past suggested that the region will work with other political formations in the next election to form a government.
