The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has called on motorists to book and complete vehicle inspections ahead of travel to avoid inconveniences at compliance checkpoints.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, NTSA Director General George Njao explained the importance of timely bookings and proper documentation, warning that presenting booking slips instead of valid inspection reports could disrupt journeys.

"A motor vehicle inspection booking slip is not an inspection report nor proof that the vehicle has undergone inspection," he stated.
The DG urged vehicle owners to manage their fleets efficiently by ensuring inspections are completed before travel.
"It is important for motor vehicle owners to make their inspection bookings in good time and present their vehicles for inspection to avoid any inconveniences at the compliance checkpoints," he added.
The motor vehicle inspection process requires motorists to complete an online booking via the NTSA website.
This involves selecting the type of inspection, identifying the vehicle, choosing a preferred inspection centre, and scheduling a convenient date.
Vehicle owners must then present their cars at the designated centre for inspection on the scheduled date, where officials conduct the necessary tests.
The authority's clarification comes shortly after the launch of a road safety sensitisation campaign targeting drivers of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and Public Service Vehicles (PSVs).
The week-long initiative which started on December 17,204 began in Mombasa and is being carried out in collaboration with the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).
"KeNHA in collaboration with NTSA has launched a joint road safety sensitisation campaign targeting drivers of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) and Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) along the Northern Corridor," KeNHA said.
