The interruption is scheduled to take place from 6 am on Wednesday, February 14, to 6 am on Thursday, February 15.
The reason behind the temporary water supply disruption is the relocation of the water pipeline due to a conflict with an ongoing construction project at the United Nations Offices in Gigiri.
The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company emphasised the necessity of this relocation in a statement, saying, “This will facilitate the relocation of the water pipeline in conflict with the office construction site in the United Nations Offices at Gigiri.”
The shutdown will impact several areas, including the UN Complex, Ridgeways, Muthaiga North, Balozi, Garden Estate, Windsor, Mathare North, Garden City, GSU headquarters, East Africa Breweries (EABL), Ngumba, and Babadogo estates.
Additionally, estates along Outering Road, Huruma, Umoja 1, Dandora Area 1, Donholm, Tassia, Fedha, Nyayo Embakasi, Kware areas, and parts of Pipeline Estate will also be affected.
The water company assures residents that they will make every effort to restore the water supply promptly after the completion of the shutdown and has issued a plea for cooperation.
The company urged residents in the affected areas to use their stored water sparingly during the period of interruption.
