Ngong Road users warned of daily diversions near Junction Mall until December 10

KURA urged motorists to exercise caution, follow all traffic signs and obey instructions from police officers and traffic marshals on site.

Ngong Road users have been urged to brace for restricted lanes and diversions from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm daily, excluding Sundays, while construction crews work on the flyover near Junction Mall.

In a notice on Thursday, the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) said the temporary traffic changes, effective from November 18 to December 10, 2025, are necessary to allow for the installation of a steel structure for the ongoing project.

“The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) wishes to notify the general public of a temporary traffic disruption along Ngong Road around the Junction Mall Area, effective Tuesday, November 18, 2025, to Wednesday, December 10, 2025,” reads the notice.

During this period, traffic will be diverted between the Nairobi City County Training School and the Kenya Science Campus to maintain two-way movement within the affected section.

KURA urged motorists to exercise caution, follow all traffic signs and obey instructions from police officers and traffic marshals on site.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused as we continue to Transform Urban Mobility,” the Authority said

A detailed traffic plan shows that the affected stretch runs from the Nairobi City County Training School to the Kenya Science Campus.

Key landmarks along the route, including The Junction Mall, the Kenya Meteorological Department, and Kenya Science Campus, will remain accessible, though motorists may experience limited entry at intersections such as Kingara Road and Naivasha Road.

Temporary lane separations, marked by cones and reflective poles, will guide vehicles safely through the construction area.

The Ngong Road Flyover Project forms part of KURA’s wider strategy to improve traffic flow and urban mobility in Nairobi.

The steel flyover, located near The Junction Mall, is designed to ease congestion along the busy Ngong Road corridor, which connects the city centre with neighbourhoods such as Dagoretti, Karen and Ngong.

Once completed, the flyover will allow vehicles to move more efficiently across major intersections, reducing delays and enhancing safety for both motorists and pedestrians.
