Lamu Governor Issa Timamy, who read the resolution on behalf of the leaders, said they resolved to enhance inter-county collaborations in information sharing and community engagement towards addressing the existing terrorist challenges along the border with Somalia.
"Community participation is a key priority to overcome the existing challenges," he noted.
The leaders from the counties and the National Assembly agreed to mobilize resources from the National government and donor partners aimed at addressing underlying issues that contributed towards insecurity in the region.
In the resolutions, they assured to adhere to the principles of transparency and accountability while committing the funds for their intended purpose.
The leaders stated that they were fully committed to countering extremism in the region with full implementation of the resolution and collaboration with various multi-agency sectors that were involved in the war against terror along the borderland frontier counties.
Garissa governor Nathif Jama, who on Friday, made an address on the challenges posed by the terror group called for serious action in combating the threats.
" It's unfortunate that some areas of our borderland frontier counties were inaccessible due to the active existence of the terrorist group," he claimed.
Wajir Governor Ahmed Abdullahi and Mandera Governor Mohamed Khalif also expressed concern about threats that were hindering development in the region and affirmed their commitment to joint efforts in fighting the crime.
"We have stood resolute in our commitment to countering terrorism and fostering regional security. As our borderland counties synchronize efforts with national security initiatives, we pave the way for development and safeguard our communities from the scourge of terrorism," said Governor Ahmed.
