DCI launches manhunt for suspect in disappearance of four-year-old in Nakuru

According to the DCI, the child was reported missing at Mwariki Police Station on June 11, 2026, triggering investigations as the family desperately searched for the minor.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a manhunt for a suspect wanted in connection with the disappearance of a four-year-old child in Nakuru County.
According to the DCI, the child was reported missing at Mwariki Police Station on June 11, 2026, triggering investigations as the family desperately searched for the minor.
During that period, the suspect is alleged to have worsened the family’s distress by attempting to negotiate a ransom.
In an appeal to the public, the DCI said detectives are looking for the suspect and are seeking information that could lead to his arrest.
Acting on intelligence leads, detectives from the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit, working jointly with the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau at DCI Headquarters and officers from Mwariki Police Station, tracked the suspect to a plot in the Quarry area of Rongai.

However, the operation did not result in an arrest after the suspect reportedly noticed detectives closing in on him and fled into nearby slums.
“The suspect fled into nearby slums and has since remained at large,” the DCI said.
Detectives later searched the room where the suspect had spent the night and recovered a mobile phone and personal belongings.
They also recovered a mother-and-child clinic booklet bearing the particulars of another minor from Nakuru County, a discovery that investigators said has raised more questions about the suspect’s activities.
The DCI has urged anyone with information that may help trace the suspect or establish his whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or provide information anonymously through the #FichuaKwaDCI platform.
Members of the public can also contact investigators through the toll-free number 0800 722 203 or via WhatsApp on 0709 570 000.
