Kenya has secured a place at the FIFAe Continental Championship featuring eFootball Console after an impressive campaign in the FIFAe Nations League Africa Region, marking another significant milestone for the country's growing esports scene.
The Kenyan duo of Daniel Kibiwott and Elvis Kibet guided the nation to a top-eight finish on the continent, earning qualification for the prestigious championship that will be held in Casablanca, Morocco, from August 19 to 22.
Kenya's qualification came after a resilient performance throughout the regional qualifiers. Drawn in a challenging Group C, the team began its campaign with a narrow 2-1 defeat to eventual group winners Senegal before fighting back to earn a 2-2 draw against Tanzania.
Needing a positive result in their final group fixture, Kenya rose to the occasion by defeating the Ivory Coast 3-1 to finish second in the group behind Senegal and secure a place in the knockout stage.
The team's impressive run continued in the quarter-finals, where they overcame higher-ranked Libya with a convincing 2-0 victory to book a place among Africa's top eight nations and, in the process, seal qualification for the continental finals.
Although Kenya's journey ended with a 2-0 defeat to Ghana in the subsequent knockout round, the result did little to overshadow what had already become a successful campaign, with qualification to the FIFAe Continental Championship already secured.
The Kenyan team was represented by 19-year-old Daniel Kibiwott and 17-year-old Elvis Kibet in the 2v2 competition under the guidance of coach Timothy Kiarie.
In Casablanca, Kenya will compete against hosts Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Madagascar, Libya, Ghana and Senegal for continental honours and a chance to represent Africa on the global stage.
The stakes will be even higher at the tournament, as only the top two finishers will qualify for the FIFAe World Cup 2026, scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in September.
The achievement highlights Kenya's steady rise in competitive esports and reflects the growing collaboration between the Electronic Sports Kenya Federation (ESKF) and the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), whose partnership played a key role in the team's preparations for the continental qualifiers.
With a youthful squad, Kenya will now shift its focus to Casablanca, where the nation will be aiming not only for continental success but also one of the two coveted tickets to the FIFAe World Cup.
