MCA among two suspects arrested with 57 stones of bhang in Isiolo
This comes barely a month after the Isiolo Governor expressed concern about increased cases of drug and substance abuse among the youth in Isiolo town.
A sitting Member of the County Assembly was among two suspects arrested on Thursday with 57 stones of bhang in Isiolo Town.
According to DCI, the Chari ward Member of the County Assembly in Isiolo Abdullahi Golicha Meja and Nura Abdi Diba were arrested on the outskirts of Isiolo town by the Transnational Organized Crimes Unit officers and a multi-agency team.

"The two were flagged down within Isiolo town while driving a motor vehicle make Toyota Land Cruiser Reg No. KDG 034G, before the team proceeded to the house of Nura Abdi Diba at Kambi Garba Estate on the outskirts of Isiolo town where six gunny bags containing the 57 stones of the prohibited herb were recovered," DCI said.
The detectives said the exhibits have been escorted to DCI headquarters for further processing as the suspects remain in custody for interrogation.
This comes barely a month after Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo expressed concern about increased cases of drug and substance abuse among the youth in Isiolo town.
Cases of drug trafficking along Moyale -Isiolo and Moyale -Wajir roads have increased due to smuggling of the drugs suspected to be from neighbouring Ethiopia.
