Wajir Huduma Centre manager Hussein Abdirahman reported missing, family and leaders demand urgent action

According to his relatives, Hussein left for work as usual on the morning of Monday, July 7, 2025, but never returned home, and all efforts to contact him have been unsuccessful.

Wajir County Huduma Centre Manager, Hussein Abdirahman Mohamed, has been reported missing, sparking deep concern among his family and the local community, who say he disappeared without a trace six days ago.

According to his relatives, Hussein left for work as usual on the morning of Monday, July 7, 2025, but never returned home. All efforts to contact him have been unsuccessful.

His phone has remained switched off since the day he went missing, and despite reporting the incident to police, the family says they have received no updates or information about his whereabouts.

During an emotional press briefing on Saturday in Wajir town, Sheikh Abdiwahab Osman, a close relative, described Hussein’s disappearance as “out of character” and “deeply distressing.”

“We stand before you with heavy hearts. Hussein left for work and never returned. His phone has been off. No word. No clue. We are desperate for answers,” Sheikh Abdiwahab said.

Hussein, known for his dedication to public service, has been serving as the Huduma Centre manager in Wajir, where he played a key role in enhancing government service delivery.

“He is a peaceful man. A father. A husband. If he’s been kidnapped, we plead, let him come back to us unharmed,” Sheikh Abdiwahab added.

Act urgently

His disappearance has alarmed local leaders, who are now calling on investigative and intelligence agencies to act urgently.

“This is a government officer heading a crucial institution. His disappearance cannot be taken lightly. DCI, NIS, all of them must act now,” Wagberi MCA Aden Abdi Bulle said.

The family says they have yet to receive any communication from authorities since reporting the disappearance and are growing increasingly frustrated with the slow progress of the investigation.

Concerned members of the public have also turned to social media to raise the alarm over Hussein’s fate.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, a user identified as Mohaaz Baharini issued a passionate appeal, demanding answers and accountability.

“We are profoundly saddened and alarmed by the sudden disappearance of our brother and colleague, Hussein Abdirahman… It has now been seven painful days since he was last seen, and despite desperate efforts… there has been no trace or official information,” Mohaaz said.

Mohaaz called for clarity from government agencies, questioning whether Hussein is in custody, if he has been arraigned in court, or if any security agency is holding him.

“If so, we ask for transparency and adherence to due process. If not, we demand that an immediate and thorough investigation be launched to locate him and ensure his safe return,” he added.

He also urged government officials to take swift and transparent action, the media to keep Hussein’s story in the spotlight, and the public to share credible information that could assist in locating him.

“Above all, we humbly ask for your prayers… His absence is not just a family matter, it’s a community crisis,” Mohaaz wrote.
